Appreciation For Your Continued Engagement: For Faculty

December 11, 2024

Dear Faculty:

The fall semester has brought challenges, celebrations, change, and innovation, and our community has continued to grow stronger and more resilient throughout. From the launch of the new Center for Interfaith and Spiritual Life in the Division for Student Affairs to the ongoing development of a new strategic framework, this semester has been full of milestones.

At the beginning of the academic year, I sent a message encouraging you to participate in acts of engagement and service that would advance GW in many different ways. Whether you have contributed to the strategic framework process, attended university events, or served on a committee, you have demonstrated your commitment to GW, both in and out of the classroom.

Vice Provost and Dean Colette Coleman and I have sent our students a message encouraging them to finish the fall semester strong through final exams by taking care of their physical and mental health and making use of all the wellbeing and academic resources available to them. As a reminder, the CARE Team allows all members of the community to submit a care referral for any student who may need additional support beyond assistance with classwork, so I ask you all to make use of this resource if needed. Counseling and Psychological Services staff are also available to speak with our students.

Of course, I also encourage you to take care of yourself as well. The Human Resources website and Faculty Affairs website have helpful resources for your reference. And as a reminder, please submit your final grades no more than five business days after the final exam, or after the final class meeting if no exam is given. The last possible day faculty should submit grades is Tuesday, December 24.

Thank you for your continued engagement and commitment to GW, and I wish you a restful winter break. I look forward to welcoming you back for an exciting spring semester.

Sincerely,

Christopher Alan Bracey
Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs
