WasteWise
The Environmental Protection Agency established the WasteWise program in 1994 as a free partnership program to help organizations to achieve cost savings, improve efficiency, and reduce climate footprints through waste reduction. All U.S. businesses, governments and nonprofit organizations are eligible to join WasteWise. Members enjoy access to free technical assistance, the use of the WARM tool to calculate the GHG reductions associated with waste prevention, and the Sustainable Materials Management (SMM) Data Management System which allows members to track and communicate the benefits of waste diversion efforts. WasteWise encourages a hierarchy of waste prevention (source reduction), followed by recycling and composting, and then the purchasing or manufacturing of recycled-content products.
