Dear Faculty:
I understand that the last week has been incredibly trying for many members of our community, especially for our students as we head into the end of the semester. The safety and security of our students, faculty, and staff remains our top priority, and all decisions made in recent days regarding the encampment in University Yard have been informed by that imperative.
The next period of final examinations, which begins on Saturday, May 4, is proceeding as planned. To ensure a quiet environment, all examinations taking place in Bell, Corcoran, Lisner, and Samson Halls, as well as the Media and Public Affairs building, will be relocated on campus. Some students particularly affected by recent events have been encouraged to talk to their undergraduate or graduate deans or academic advisors about the challenges they are facing. These school representatives are in the best position to advise students about their options under university policy. Also, our associate provost for undergraduate affairs, Jeffrey Brand ([email protected]), has been offered to students as an additional resource regarding their pathways to academic success.
I ask us all to remain empathetic to the struggles of many of our students during this difficult period and help to ensure their successful completion of the semester.
Sincerely,
Christopher Alan Bracey
Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs
Professor of Law
