Dear Colleagues,
The Clinical Research Working Group (CRWG), charged by the Provost, developed a survey to gather broad community feedback on GW’s clinical research ecosystem. If you have recent direct experience of clinical research at GW, please consider sharing your experiences and expertise at the survey link below:
Please complete the survey by Wednesday, October 7.
For purposes of the CRWG, “clinical research” denotes inquiry conducted across GW entities that seeks to advance human health or improve clinical and population health outcomes across the translational research continuum.
In Scope:
- Translation to Humans: Mechanistic, and early translational research supporting drug, biologic, or device development that involves human samples or human data, including first-in-human and early-phase studies.
- Translation to Patients: Research evaluating the efficacy and effectiveness of interventions in patients, including clinical trials and other interventional research.
- Translation to Practice: Research focused on implementation, healthcare delivery, and clinical outcomes, including how healthcare professionals adopt and apply evidence-based interventions in real-world care settings.
- Translation to Communities and Populations: Research focused on population health, public health, health outcomes, and the impact of interventions at the community or population level.
- Across the continuum, this includes research involving human participants, biospecimens, health data, or clinical records, including retrospective, observational, interventional, implementation, outcomes, and public health research.
Out of Scope:
- Preclinical work involving animals or laboratory studies that do not involve human samples or data.
Please note that this definition does not imply that every activity will require the same central review, systems, services, or approval pathway.
If the above “clinical research” definition touches your work, we would greatly appreciate your completion of the survey by Wednesday, October 7.
It is important that we hear from you so that the recommendations of the Clinical Research Working Group reflect the needs and aspirations of GW’s entire clinical research community.
If you have any questions, please reach out to the Clinical Research Working Group leadership at crwg
