Dear Members of the George Washington University Community,
We are pleased to announce that the George Washington University has accepted an invitation to join the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) as a founding Institutional Member. This engagement deepens our relationship with one of the world’s largest multidisciplinary scientific societies and serves as further recognition of our community of scholars and their far-reaching impact.
GW’s AAAS Institutional Membership provides free AAAS Elemental Memberships to all current faculty, staff, postdocs and students. More information on claiming a membership is below.
Elemental members gain access to AAAS member communities, programming, and professional development and networking resources. The tools will help GW connect with peers and potential collaborators in academia and industry. Elemental members also become eligible for prestigious members-only honors and build eligibility toward the four-year membership requirement for election as AAAS Fellows.
AAAS is an international, nonpartisan and nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing innovation, science and technology for the benefit of all. It is a leading publisher of cutting-edge research through the Science family of journals.
As an Institutional Member of AAAS, GW joins a global community that is advancing innovation and discovery, celebrating scientific excellence and advocating for science-informed decisions and actions.
AAAS is not just an organization for scientists and engineers—its expansive mission includes science diplomacy, science communications and public engagement, evidence-based policy and advocacy, law and the ethical conduct of research, STEM education, and using art to present complex themes.
Claiming Your Free AAAS Elemental Membership
Individuals can claim their free AAAS Elemental Membership at GW InnovationFest on Thursday, May 1. AAAS staff will be in the Smith Center to answer questions and enroll members of our community. We will share additional details soon about how to claim your Elemental Membership online.
In the meantime, we hope you will explore AAAS and its programs and take advantage of these new benefits.
Sincerely,
