Reminder about Classes Affected by Juneteenth Holiday

June 8, 2022

Dear Colleagues,

In the spring, I sent a message to faculty with information about accommodating Juneteenth (observed June 20), a new federal holiday as of 2021.  As a reminder, if your school or college has not already made adjustments to your teaching schedule in consideration of Juneteenth, please be aware that the lost class time must be made up in one of the following ways:

  1. You can make up the class time by recording a lecture and posting it for your students to watch asynchronously.

  2. If you have already planned an in-person class, you may teach the class as planned, but please record it as well for students who are not in attendance.

Please contact your school or college dean if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your attention to this important holiday.

Sincerely,

Christopher Alan Bracey
Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs
Professor of Law
