Dear Colleagues,
As you read in President Granberg’s message yesterday, the university is closely monitoring actions taken by the new presidential administration and federal agencies that may impact our scholarly enterprise.
You have also likely heard about specific impacts on researchers across the country, including a freeze on external communications by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that has paused the review and announcement of new grants.
Executive actions are common at the beginning of a new presidential administration. It is too soon to know the full extent of any impact on our federally-funded projects, but we recognize that these changes create a sense of uncertainty.
If you are preparing federal proposals or reports, please continue to adhere to all previously announced deadlines. Principal investigators with active awards should continue with planned activities, and should immediately forward any relevant notice from their sponsor to the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) at [email protected]. OSP will provide additional guidance in the event the notice affects current proposal development or award management activities.
The Office of the Provost is tracking developments closely along with our peer institutions. We will continue to share updates and provide direct support to our investigators as needed. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to share your experiences and send questions or concerns to [email protected].
As always, thank you for everything you continue to do to advance GW’s world-class academic community and our research mission.
Sincerely,
Christopher Alan Bracey
